Quarterly Newsletter Fall, 2008
T.J. Maxx representatives came on Sept.15th. They joined us for lunch and got a tour of the building. General Manager Tim Bunker, and two Operations Managers, Brenda Ross and Nancy Poulin got to meet current and future member employees. They were very impressed with the energy and excitement in the Clubhouse and are eager to work with us during the upcoming very busy holiday season. High Hopes will begin a group site in November!

High Hopes Clubhouse is raising money for a Wii machine.
It will be used to get members
up and moving on Friday game nights.

In August, High Hopes Clubhouse presented the Clubhouse
model to Community Correctional Alternatives, Inc.
The presentation was done for supported housing staff and case
managers. The presentation was
well received and as a result several new members have been referred and
joined the Clubhouse.
In October, High Hopes staff and members presented an
informational booth at the Friends and Family Night at Riverview Psychiatric
Center in Augusta, Maine. We
were able to talk with many social workers, hospital staff and patients
about the Clubhouse model. It
was a great chance to collaborate with other service providers and our
Augusta sister Capitol Clubhouse.
Thank you, Riverview.
The fall social events got off to a great start.
One Friday a group went apple picking, then we had an apple party and
game night. Another Friday a
group went on a haunted hayride.
The biggest hit was the Halloween dinner and dance.
A lot of us dressed up in costumes or wore makeup.
The dancing was very informal.
It was fun to cut loose and be silly for a change.
We had 30 members attend.
Other social events planned for this fall are attending a Portland Pirates
hockey game, an employment dinner and we will be open on Thanksgiving for
deserts. Please come to the
clubhouse and find out what’s going on so you don’t miss out on the fun.
