10th Anniversary

On December 1, 2007 High Hopes Clubhouse celebrated our 10 year anniversary!  We had a wonderful turn out with over 65 members and staff in attendance to celebrate this milestone in our clubhouse history.

High Hopes Clubhouse was honored to have Christine Berry, the Director of Clubhouse Services, Donna Mann of Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Terrie Kee and Amy Kirkpatrick of Capitol Clubhouse, 10 Capitol Clubhouse members, Michelle English and Carole Works, former Unit Coordinators, took part in the celebration.  The day was filled with reflections of the clubhouse and the accomplishments of many members past and present.

The High Hopes Clubhouse video team presented a wonderful “Clubhouse Anniversary Video”.  Members and staff were able to enjoy live music by Terrie Kee and a lot of singing was done by all.  Everyone received a ten year anniversary coffee cup designed by David Sovetsky.  We were treated to a Chinese food buffet.  The decoration committee did a terrific job!

We would like to thank all the generous people who assisted in raising funds for the celebration.  Clubhouse   is a special place and that was reflected in the speeches by members and staff about how the clubhouse has changed their lives forever.

 Certification Visit

The International Center for Clubhouse Development (ICCD) faculty team, Melissa Fundakowski and Andrew Schonebaum, came to High Hopes Clubhouse for our 3rd certification visit from October 29th-November 2nd. They worked in the units, met with members, staff, vocational rehabilitation counselors and advisory committee members. They visited and interviewed our employers and attended our meetings and employment dinner. On Friday November 2nd, they presented their verbal findings report.   The suggestions in the report included hiring another staff, looking into ways to expand the Clubhouse space, and adding member drivers to assist in helping with transportation to work.

Their report was very positive and we await the final written certification report.

Thank you to all of our clubhouse community for making such a positive and great impression. of Clubhouse to the faculty.
