TJ MAXX

GROUP SITE!

High Hopes Clubhouse is very proud and excited to announce a new joint partnership and group site with TJ Maxx in Waterville. By the end of this month, we will have five members on payroll at this very supportive employer. We were joined at lunch recently by General Manager Tim Bunker, and two Operations Managers, Brenda Ross and Nancy Poulin. They were very impressed with the energy and excitement in the Clubhouse and are eager to work with us during the upcoming very busy holiday season. Richard K and Lee Ann V are already working in the warehouse and will soon be joined by Chad B, Donna P, and Brandon S. Great news!!

April A. recently started working a twenty hour a week position at Care and Comfort in Waterville. She has her own space with a nice desk and a very nice view. She is doing various clerical tasks, including sorting, filing, telephone reference checks, shredding and most recently, computer technical support for owner Susan Giguere. Way to be flexible, April

Jon D is finishing up at the Dairy Queen position. He has been there all summer and says he finally got through the whole mulch pile!

Marden’s Surplus and Salvage

Update

Our longest and very loyal Employment Partner, Marden’s is currently employing three of our Clubhouse members. Wendy B and Peter W both recently started working at Marden’s Surplus. Wendy is in the women’s clothing position and Peter is in the food department. Joe L continues to work in General Merchandise.

This well known and very busy store keeps all of these members working hard and earning their own paychecks and encouraging other members to try working themselves.

Marden’s has provided the first steps for more than thirty clubhouse members to participate in paid work over the years.

V.R. ,  CWIC and Ticket Update

Donna Mann continues to provide very important support for our members through the Department of Labor, Vocational Rehabilitation services. She is here each Thursday to meet with members and development of employment plans. Peter Powell and Kim Murphy-Pillsbury also provide support for some of our members.

Community Work Incentive Coordinator (CWIC)David Dubay comes up from Portland every month to meet with members and discuss how paid work will impact various benefits such as SSI, SSDI, Food Stamps, Housing, etc. David works for Maine Medical Center and we certainly appreciate his efforts on behalf of High Hopes Clubhouse members.

High Hopes Clubhouse is now part of the Employment Network for the Social Security Ticket to Work program. For more information please check in with the Employment Unit.
